Understanding the teaching context is one of the professional practices in the British Council's teacher educator framework. It involves demonstrating familiarity with the relevance to classroom practice of current national, regional, or local educational policy, reform and legislation, and institutional policy and practice, demonstrating familiarity with a range of current sources of information concerning national/ regional/local and institutional policies and practices, and researching and reflecting on your own understanding of the teaching context.
